expert film developing. serious scans.

Choose STANDARD or DELUXE scans, or for the most control, RAW-DNG scans. It’s more resolution than a Noritsu or Frontier scan.

It all begins with great developing. Each roll of C-41 film is developed by hand and uses replenished Kodak chemicals. And your B&W film? Developed by hand too, with Kodak developers + archival TF-4 fixer. We develop 35mm and 120 roll film, and if your feeling adventurous, APS.

we go one step further! let’s talk metadata. each roll of film we develop + scan includes the film stock and format in the metadata, so you’ll always know the particulars. and every scanned image file name matches the film frame. you’ll thank us later.

How we scan.

All of your roll film scans are made on the Nikon D800, 36MP DSLR. This includes 35mm, APS and 120 roll film. Kodachrome and Ektachrome slides are made with the Nikon D800. We use the Epson V850 for legacy formats, such as 126 and 127 negatives and transparencies, single cut 120 frames and for fluid mount film scanning. Photographic prints are scanned on the Epson V850 up to 8x10. 11x14 prints are photographed with the Nikon D800. 110 film is scanned in a custom made carrier in the Plustek 8300i.

The Nikon D800 is attached to a Nikon PB-4 bellows unit. This allows for 1:1 macro focusing with 35mm film and transparencies. We use an 80mm Schenider Kreuznach enlarger lens for razor sharp captures.

We’ll convert your Photo CD scans to standard high resolution JPEG images. Colorcraft will also individually adjust the color balance, density and contrast of each image. The film scanner used in the Photo CD system scanned at negatives and slides with limited color fidelity, contrast and saturation. We can improve those original scans.
